World Hand Hygiene Day 5 May 2024 – Sharing your knowledge about hand hygiene

15 Apr 2024

The theme for the 2024 WHO World Hand Hygiene Day isPromoting knowledge and capacity building of health and care workers through innovative and impactful training and education, on infection prevention and control, including hand hygiene.?’

ARHAI Scotland have a hand hygiene day webpage on the NIPCM with links to education and training resources on hand hygiene and infection prevention and control. These can be used by care settings to improve knowledge and practice for the public and care workers.

A social media campaign is planned in the run up to 5 May 2024 and ARHAI Scotland are collaborating with NHS Education for Scotland (NES) to ensure consistent messaging is issued to a wide audience.

A series of free webinars can be used to support World Hand Hygiene Day. The first of these is on the 16 April called ‘Warming up for Hand Hygiene Day’  and is an opportunity to find out more about hand hygiene day and the importance of campaigning in your local area.

We would encourage all boards and care providers to take up the call for action and register and support the campaign in their local area.
